Seãn Johnson:
Hey, everybody this is Seãn Johnson with Cigar Conversations, and I’m here at Emperors Cut. Now, do me a favor. There’s so many, there’s about five or six of you guys.
Darnell Streat:
Right.
Seãn Johnson:
So tell me who they are.
Darnell Streat:
So I’m the founding member, Darnell Streat. And, we’ve got Greg Willis. We’ve got Robert Howard. We’ve got Timmy Bush. We’ve got Greg Hurt. Those are the members, and we’ve got Darryl Renton.
Seãn Johnson:
Now, with all that being said, I just want to get that out of the way.
Darnell Streat:
Right.
Seãn Johnson:
Because, my thing is Emperors Cut, how did you guys come up with such an elegant, powerful name?
Darnell Streat:
Great. We, in the beginning, when we first started, we wanted to create a cigar that the average person could smoke and, we wanted it to be of high quality. So, we thought about in ancient times, the Emperor gets the first cut of the harvest. So, those subjects bring the Emperor the best. And, so we said, Emperor’s First Cut, meaning the best quality tobacco, the best. So, we said, Emperor’s Cut. Meaning, the best for the average person.
Seãn Johnson:
Now you have the, how you call it now, the different faces.
Darnell Streat:
Right.
Seãn Johnson:
And, tell me about your latest release.
Darnell Streat:
Our latest release that came out in October of last year, it’s called our Jazz Series.
Seãn Johnson:
Stop. You guys went ahead, when everybody else pretty much had a stunt, or was it a standstill, for 2020, because it never happened. You came out with a new face.
Darnell Streat:
Yes we did. Yeah. We always keep something in the pipeline and we’re trying to grow, we’re the small pups in the game, so we’re trying to grow up and everything. We came out with our Jazz line and we wanted to pay homage to the greats in the jazz industry. We got a cigar called The Miles, The Train, The Dizzy, and stand by, we got a few more coming that’s in the pipeline.
Seãn Johnson:
Now, I’m from Atlanta.
Darnell Streat:
Right.
Seãn Johnson:
So, where in Atlanta can you get these sticks?
Darnell Streat:
You can have Cigar City Club. Pretty much all the cigar shops in Atlanta carry Emperors Cut Cigars.
Seãn Johnson:
Wow, that is very powerful because there’s a lot of shops.
Darnell Streat:
There’s a lot of shops.
Seãn Johnson:
So let’s make it wider.
Darnell Streat:
Okay.
Seãn Johnson:
Where are your guys’ states?
Darnell Streat:
States. We’re in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, DC, Virginia.
Seãn Johnson:
What about Dallas?
Darnell Streat:
North Carolina, Dallas. We’re in Dallas. We’re in Houston. We’re in Florida. We’re in Memphis. We’re in St. Louis, and believe it or not, we just did a deal to get into Oklahoma City, Tulsa just 10 minutes ago. Thank you, Robert.
Seãn Johnson:
Alright. Alright. So let me ask you about your latest release. What’s that?
Darnell Streat:
I’m sorry. And, we have Vegas, and we’re in California.
Seãn Johnson:
So, they’re here.
Darnell Streat:
We’re here.
Seãn Johnson:
They’re here.
Darnell Streat:
Sweet Sugar Daddies.
Seãn Johnson:
Oh.
Darnell Streat:
We’re in Sugar Daddies.
Seãn Johnson:
So check it out right here in Vegas to go to Sugar Daddies. So, today, if I go to Sugar Daddies right now,
Darnell Streat:
Emperors Cut Cigars.
Seãn Johnson:
Alright, boom, done. With this, with the new faces. Let me ask you a question with this one, tell me about some of the notes that we should be expecting.
Darnell Streat:
So, in our Dominican blend, you’re going to get notes of citrus. You’re going to get some earth tones. You’re going to get some wood essence that’ll be coming out, and some pepper that will be in this cigar line.
Seãn Johnson:
Okay. Okay. I think we got the nitty gritty. Now, there will be a part two. We’re going to talk about the men and the lady behind the brand and how it all came about. So definitely stay tuned. This is just a quick puff. So listen, I just want to tell you.
Darnell Streat:
Thank you, sir.
Seãn Johnson:
Alright, and until next time have great Cigar Conversations.
