We all know how frustrating it can be sitting on 285 in bumper to bumper traffic. Instead of developing a major case of road rage, I pulled off of the exit and made my way to Ray’s on the River. They have a Happy Hour menu from 4-6pm and there’s also daily specials from their regular menu during the week. This particular day, the daily special was a three course meal. Your choice of Surf and Turf or Wild Salmon for under forty bucks. Salad and dessert to boot. The Happy Hour atmosphere is typical Ray’s, complete with live jazz singer covering classics and giving his best rendition of Satchmo. I sampled cocktails in which the bartender was nicely heavy handed with the pour, and that makes for a great end to the day. The waitstaff double teams you with their attentiveness and aim to make your experience most enjoyable. This visit was everything we’ve come to expect from the little place on the river with great views. I ordered the surf and turf. The medium rare filet was juicy and seasoned well. The lobster tail, not overdone. Pair that with a couple of asparagus spears and a hearty portion of deliciously creamy mashed potatoes and you have a very satisfying meal for the buck. Stop on by and you may just catch us lighting one up on the river banks.
